She didn't know what to make of this place. The world was paved and bordered with cement while tall buildings set in the skyline. She's been traveling for awhile now but each new city and each new town surprised her. This one was no different. She paused by the park, watching as the children played and smiled. The world was a mixture of dark and light, with buildings blotting out the sun but laughter filling the sweet crisp air. It was a balance that she couldn't disrupt nor did she attempt to try.

There was something here, hidden beneath the city... a story that had to be told and she was searching for it.

It was a tiring walk and she didn't have money for a hotel. She found a seat on a park bench, watching as people past and sirens echoed through the city. A fountain bubbled and curled in front of her while a man with a violin began to play. She didn't have the money she needed but she pulled out a dollar and set it in the violinist's case before retaking her seat on the bench.

Her long hair was tied in two pigtails while a warm jacket covered her shoulders. She didn't need the jacket but there was something comforting in the weight of the material against her skin. A shadow fell over her and her chin lifted. "Can I help you?"

Her mouth curved into a warm smile. "I like that. I will be Guinevere with the nickname Gwen." It didn't matter what the name was but that he was kind enough to give her one.

"Thank you Sam."

Gwen's eyes glanced down at her attire. She really did hope that it was appropriate for a party. "When is this party? Should I meet you or does it start soon?"

“Yeah, don’t worry, no one is going to care what you’re wearing,” Sam reassured her. She was the sort of gorgeous that could show up in yoga pants and a t-shirt and guys would fall all over her. That was actually probably what was going to happen but he didn’t want to be some insecure asshole who didn’t let her hand out with other people because she might ditch them for him.

“I mean... I care. Obviously. I just mean you look nice no matter what you wear. Or don’t wear. I mean... not naked sort of don’t wear just if you choose not to conform to societal standards that would be fine too. I just mean... your outfit is very nice. ANd it’s now, the thing is now. We can go now if you want? I was just headed there.”

He totally wasn’t headed there but if she wanted to go then he was totally headed there now so it was basically the same thing.

It was difficult to follow everything he was saying but she tried her best, her smile warm, sweet and wide. A finger delicately pressed against her lips to stop her smile from growing. "I'm not doing anything now." She spoke simply before rising to her feet and turning towards Sam.

"Why don't we go? You can show me around this party." She held out her hand, helping him to his feet while keeping her hand in his.

She didn't intend to ditch Sam but she was excited to meet more people. For the moment, the only person she knew with any familiarity was Sam himself and they had only just met.

Sam was used to people either trying to hold their laughter in around him or just straight laughing at him. The fact that she actually tried to not laugh earned her points. So far she had about a billion points which was a pretty good number and could be exchanged for a fair number of goods and services (mostly services) at the Sam Witwicky Store.

"So I take it you're new in town?" he asked, a little surprised that she was holding his hand but definitely pleasantly surprised. Because if you arrived at a party holding that's that totally meant something and Sam was totally okay with that!

"I am. I don't know how long I will be staying." Her plans could last days or months. She never really knew what she was going to do until it happened. "But I like traveling. I get to see new places and meet new people."

She smiled over at him and hoped that he knew that she was talking about him. "What are you studying in college? I never went to college." There were no college's in heaven...

"Oh, cool. Sounds like a cool adventure. I'm- I'm staying for a few years. For college. Where I'm currently an undeclared major. I'm sort of interested in astrophysics? You know, worlds and realities beyond this one," Sam said. Which sounded like crazy, stupid, science fiction stuff but that was kind of his life right now.

"Where are you staying in town? Is it close to hear? Because if it is... or if it isn't... I can walk you home after the party. You know, to make sure you get home okay."

A small smile graced her lips and she wonder what he might think if he learned that she was from another world. "That sounds interesting."

A beat.

"Oh. I don't know yet." She hadn't gotten that far. "I have only just arrived and I ran out of money." Minus the fifty odd cents she had in her pocket. "But I'm sure it'll work out." It always worked out in some way and Angel didn't mind spending the night wandering until she found a safe place to rest.

"Oh. Well. If. If you need to you could stay with me. For a bit. As long as you need," Sam said without hesitation. He was pretty sure that his roommate wouldn't mind if a super gorgeous woman stayed at their place for a bit. He had no idea where she would sleep or anything but they could figure that out later.

She paused and turned to look at him. "You would really let me stay with you?" She sounded genuinely surprised but pleasantly so. "I would like that very much. Thank you Sam."

Her mouth curved into a warm smile.

"I'm lucky to have run into you."

She continued stepping at his side, her fingers lacing together inf front of her as they continued forward.

“Uhhh, yeah, no- no problem,” Sam said, his brain temporarily scrambled by her smile and the feel of her hand in his. He could swear a faint tingle ran up his arm at the contact and it was very distracting in a nice way.

“So is this your first time traveling?”

"Not traveling but this is my first time to this city. I've been traveling for the last few years. I think the longest I've lived in one place was about a year." It had ended tragically but she had no intention of diving into those details. "I'm used to staying wherever I can. I don't have very much money and I've never held a job before."

Which she didn't really mind. There were plenty of safe places she could spend the night and she was resilient to inclement weather.

"How do you afford stuff if you don't have a job?" he asked, although he realized that maybe she had a trust fund or rich parents or something. His family was well enough but they weren't "just travel the country" rich. Even if they were his dad would never just fund him wandering around.

"What do I need to buy?" She sounded genuinely confused. "I don't need very much." She could eat but she didn't have to eat as much as a human and there were ways to work for food or other necessities.

"I don't... really understand money."

She was very strange.

Okay, rich girl. Which made sense. She didn't seem stuck up or anything but if she didn't understand how money worked then... yikes. Sam couldn't even comprehend that. It would have made him mad or jealous but she looked so confused about it he couldn't. Also she was still super hot so... she got a pass.

"Well... you use it to exchange for goods or services," he said, scratching the back of his head in thought. "So if you need stuff like clothes or food you give people money and they give you those things. Then they take the money you give them and exchange it for stuff."

She didn't have a lot of money but she had no idea how to articulate that but that was alright. Sam could believe what he wanted. He was willing to give her a place to stay and had invited her to a party. He'd been so nice to her and had no reason to be.

"I know that much." Her lips curve into a warm smile. "I just mean, I work for my meals or I snack. I have worked at a goodwill for a few days to get my clothes and I walk most places. I haven't had a need for a lot of money."

She did not pay taxes.

"Where is this party? Are we almost there?"

"That is basically everything there is to now about money," Sam said with a grin. It seemed like she was living kind of... sparse but she seemed to be happy which is more than he could say for a lot of people that had money.

"Oh, yeah, we're pretty much there. It's the... crazy house up there," he said, pointing to the frat house that was up the road just a ways with all the lights and loud music, not to mention people.

Her chin rose and her eyes focused on the house at the hill. It looked like any normal home though the loud music could be hear from yards away. "It looks busy and hectic." She looked at Sam with a warm smile. "I'm excited."

She'd never been to a party like this.

"Will you introduce me to some of your friends?" She took his arm ans held herself close to him as they walked closer.

Sam was about to offer that they could go somewhere else if she wanted but by how excited she looked at the idea of it being busy and hectic he changed his mind. She was definitely looking forward to going to the party.

"Yeah, of course. I- I don't know how many will be here," he said, only slightly distracted by how close she was pressed up against him. "But if they're here I'll introduce you. Just, you know, all standard frat party rules apply."

She'd never been to something like this but that only added an air of mystery to the excitement and thrill of the party.

Her head turned and she looked thoughtful before speaking. "I don't know what frat party rules are." A beat. "Are they hard to learn?" She didn't want to insult anyone or upset any of Sam's friends. After all, he had been nothing but sweet to her and she wanted to repay him somehow.

Hopefully Sam didn't mind that he was going to have her attached to his side through the duration of the party.

"Oh, right. Um, don't take a drink from anyone and watch yours all the time. If it's out of sight at any time then get a new one," Sam said. He was perfectly happy with having her stick by his side the whole time. Really happy about it of course, but he wasn't going to assume that she would do that.

"That is... pretty much the main rules of any party."

She nodded her head. "Okay." She probably wouldn't get a drink unless Sam got it for her anyway. She wasn't unfamiliar with alcohol but she didn't spend a lot of time drinking it and she didn't really know what she liked. It was much easier to trust Sam with such decisions. She trusted him.

She kept her hand in his as they approached the party, staying close to Sam's side. A few heads turned towards her but she didn't seem to notice.

Music blared from inside and people were packed tighter together.

Sam gave her hand a squeeze. You know, totally as friendly reassurance to let her know that everything was going to be okay. At least he really hoped it was going to be okay. As soon as they were in the party his roommate Leo popped up in front of them.

"Sam!" Leo said, although his eyes were locked on Angel.

"Hey, Leo. This is Angel, a friend. Angel, this is Leo, my friend," he said, gesturing to the other guy.

"Dude," Leo said, meaning "She is crazy gorgeous."

"Dude," Sam agreed.

"Dude," Leo replied, meaning "It's crazy she's with you.

"Dude," Sam agreed, with a "don't ruin this for me" vibe thrown in.

"Dude," Leo said, reassuring Sam that he would not screw this up.

Her lips curved into a warm smile as Sam's fingers lightly squeezed hers. It was a comfort and one that she hadn't realized she wanted until it was offered to her.

"It's nice to meet you Leo." Another smile though it was quick to fall as Sam and Leo exchanged a few words of their own.

"I'm sorry. Is everything alright."

She wasn't sure what 'dude' meant. It wasn't a phrase she's heard before.

“Oh, yeah, everything is fine,” Sam said, smiling at her and glad that Leo seemed to understand what was going down. At least a little bit.

“Angel. A perfect name. It’s nice to meet you,” he said, taking her hand and leaning down to kiss it.

“She’s new in town and I said she could stay with us for a while,” Sam said, giving Leo a “don’t screw this up” look.

She smiled and watched as Leo kissed the back of her hand. It was an unusual greeting but charming. "Oh. Thank you Leo. It's very nice to meet you too." She'd been looking forward to meeting Sam's friends.

"I hope it's alright that I stay with you. I will try and stay out of your way." She really hoped that it wouldn't be much trouble.

"So, what is there to do at this party? I've never been to something like this before."
